Dear friends, You are aware that VIBEWA is conducting a survey to capture the present status of visually impaired in the banking sector. The survey is nearing a month, and the response is satisfactory with more than300 members filling out the form. I extend wholehearted gratitude to all those (including me) who have participated in the survey.
Let me tell you that it was not easy to get this many respondents to participate. VIBEWA's EC team and a group of volunteers have worked hard to bring it to this level. What now? As I said, 300 is a good number in a month's time. But is it going to be sufficient? This survey is not to publish a paper in research journal where we give some justification for the sample size. We are looking to take the results of the survey to the the concerned authorities, appraise them of the present status, and press for the change required. I do not think we can present a case with 300 responses. moreoever there are some banks from whom the response rate has been very low which deprives us of the proper representativeness. Banks with low response rate Allahabad bank, central bank of India, deena bank, UCO bank, Bank of maharashtra, corporation bank, IDBI bank. One final strech I appeal to all those concerned with the survey to take ten minutes of time and fill it out. There are few opportunities to make us heard of, and here is a first of such kind of opportunity. Please strengthen VIBEWA by providing your valuable response to the questions in the survey. What else? As a great man said, walk alone if you want to move faster, and walk together if you want to move longer. I'm sure most of you would agree with me if I say that the ideal synario for visually impaired in banking is a long way ahead. The only way we can get there is to take as many people as possible along with us in the way ahead. If each one who has filled out the form so far can make one more his friend to do the same, we can double the number in the remaining time of the survey. Can we all take out another ten minutes and do it? Friends, VIBEWA has been doing its best in forming an association, funding for the activities like web site, now the survey, filing RTIs, etc. Its the membership that has been the biggest strength of the organisation. We need to rally around in large numbers to make our voice heard to those concerned. Please fill out the survey form, for yourself, and your friends at http://www.vibewa.org/vibewa-task-force-survey/ Stand up and be counted! -- G.
