Hi Rishi Bhaiya,

I start by saying that I have been a Jaws user for a quite long time,
starting with Jaws 3.7. What is the nature of the job and what MS
Office applications you use, my answer depends on that.

Powerpoint, Excel, Sharepoint, Link, and advance office apps can be
best experienced with Jaws, as work for the same is in progress as far
as NVDA is concerned. The apps are definitely usable, but Jaws offers
you additional features which makes it better to use these apps with
Jaws.

The switch from Jaws to NVDA is not at all difficult, give me one day
of yours, I can guarantee you quick transition.

Jaws is still the most versatile screen reader no doubts about it, and
although the new versions are not offering anything exceptional
now-a-days, but since it has been developed for so long, therefore it
still holds a good leading position in the market in terms of its
powerful features. It is also worth mentioning that the new apps or
operating systems work with Jaws during the initial phase after its
launch, as Freedomscientific being market leader is able to work with
commercial giants to make their products usable with Jaws by getting
early access. For which, NVDA depends on availability of developers
version to come out and its developer community to work on those apps
or operating system.

I am myself an advance screenreader user, and quite frankly apart from
OCR of Jaws, I do not turn it on at all, at least till Jaws 17 comes
out, which claims to offer better stability.

Why I do not like advising to go for Jaws now a days is
Freedomscientific's technical support standards which are going down
day by day.

The U.S. support does not offer international telephone support which
I would expect from any company if I pay a price, but here we have to
interact through distributor channel with the company. Which increases
the response time, problems in understanding and resolving the issues,
among others. Although, I can say at least for Karishma Enterprises,
that they are quite open, willing and positive to work with if you
need to find solutions to your problems. It just takes time.

I as a person need quick solutions to my issues whenever time demands,
and I cannot wait for 24-48 hours to get my issues solved over an
e-mail. I rather pick up the phone and call the supportline directly.
Which is what is missing in Freedomscientific. Even if you manage to
call their staff and say that you are an international user, their
behavior is rude and pathetic (the most decent words I can think of).
Many of my e-mails by the development team and product manager have
remained unanswered.

My best advice to you is that give yourself some time with NVDA, use
it, and given that you were living with old version of Jaws till date,
I cannot think of reasons why NVDA will not be able to suit your
needs. And if you were to still make your mind to go with Jaws, then
please wait till Jaws 17 comes out, Jaws 16 is a definite dead
investment looking at the basic performance issues.

To sum up everything: Jaws offers you features which will make use of
your apps perhaps quicker which is the only reason to pay the price,
and NVDA offers you the capacity of using and working with apps as
they exist, without adding the layer of features to make the usage
more quick (although it has all intermediate features which other
screen readers have like links list etc). Drop-in a line if you need
more speech!

Warm Regards,
