Kudos to the Pratap sir/Sambhavana organization and advocate Pankaj
Sinha who have again taken up the UGC to the Apex Court for not
enforcing the reservation envisaged in the PWDA in teaching
appointments across the all Indian central universities. It’s a naked
fact that out of the 40 central universities regulated/funded by the
UGC, more than thirty universities are hell-bent in excluding disabled
candidates from being appointed. These universities don’t advertise
posts reserved for the disabled candidates as mandated by the law. The
Apex Court has rightly reprimanded the UGC and issued a notice. Its
pertinent to note here that The Sambhavana is the same organization
whose spirited advocacy led to large-scale appointments of disabled
teachers in Delhi University in 2007 and continues till date. Then The
Delhi High Court stopped the funding of DU for violating the law and
not honoring the Court’s order. We hope the Apex Court in the public
interest will also take stern action of similar kind if other central
universities do not abide by the PWDA. Once Again hats off to advocate
Pankaj and Sambhavana. Friends, specially aspiring teachers, Please
circulate this news widely on your FB/twitter/WhatsAp.

The Supreme Court on Tuesday issued notice to University Grant
Commission (UGC) over the petition that the Universities were not
reserving vacancies for disabled candidates.
The apex court was hearing a petition alleging that the Universities
were not providing reservations to the disabled candidates as per the
law.
