St Stephen’s College Principal Valson Thampu St Stephen’s College Principal Valson Thampu Tuesday said the professor accused of sexually harassing his student was “innocent” and raised questions about how an “85 per cent disabled man could sexually assault a girl”. http://indianexpress.com/article/cities/delhi/how-can-85-pc-disabled-man-sexually-assault-a-girl-valson-thampu/ Attacking a “putative teacher” in a Facebook post, who allegedly “egged her (the complainant) on”, Thampu wrote, “…I curse… I curse you for ruining a young life, for crushing an academic bud… for the unspeakable agony and humiliation you heaped on an innocent, crippled colleague… The diabolic lie that an 85 per cent disabled man, who cannot stand up on his own and needs a stick to move, could “sexually assault” a girl, could have been hatched only in your perverse brain…”
Despite repeated calls, Thampu could not be reached for comments. In August last year, the accused professor had been granted anticipatory bail. -- Avinash Shahi Doctoral student at Centre for Law and Governance JNU Celebrating Louis Braill birthday, Jan. 4th.
