Logitech MX Air Mouse

The keyboard and mouse are as important to the
functioning of your PC as the capabilities of your RAM
or the chipset on the motherboard. In fact being the
interface between the user and the PC, manufacturers
have always tried to make improvements in the form
factor of these devices. With an increasing number
of users preferring to use their PCs as entertainment
centres the functions and capabilities of peripherals
have also improved. The Logitech MX Air Mouse
is one of the latest in the line of multimedia mice.
Special attention has been paid to the styling of the
MX Air Mouse. It is finished with a combination of a
glossy black top and a chromed underside. The
dimensions of the mouse have also been tinkered with.
It is longer than traditional mice and unless one has
big hands, holding the mouse can pose a problem.
The top of the mouse houses an electronic touch pad
with orange backlight. The touch pad has the regular
left and right click buttons along with dedicated
buttons for volume control, back, forward and
selection keys. It also sports a touch based scroll
pad (generally found on laptops).
The mouse is intended to be used in the air and
thats where one realises its potential. One can use
the mouse any where in the room at a maximum distance
of 30 feet much like a remote control. Moreover, one
can use hand gestures to control the flow of media on
the PC. When used as a remote, the grip on the
device is a lot more comfortable.
The MX Air Mouse comes with a dangle. All one needs to
do is insert the dangle into the USB port and you are
ready to use the mouse. One does get a software
suite with the MX Air Mouse but installing it is not
necessary to use the mouse.
The MX Air costs more than Rs 8500 and at that price
becomes a premium product as far as computer
peripherals are concerned. Unless you have no avenue
to
spend your money or are a hardcore tech buff, this
device is avoidable. For the same cost you can get two
sets of wireless keyboard and mice that may not
look as good but function well all the same.
