Got to see both the new 500 and 2000 notes. On one side there are very small raised lines with small gaps between them. I think they are difficult to count and as the currency note gets old, I wonder how legible they will be. Someone told me that RBI thinks they will not fade with use. Anyway, counting them requires sensitive fingers, something which not everyone may have. The new 500 note is almost the same length as current 20 note and the new 2000 note is same length as old 500 note. The new 500 note is shorter than current 100 note. I think identification has become very difficult for visually impaired now. This is very insensitive of the government.
