Dear all, My apologies to those who are getting duplicate copy of this email, but marking both lists as I am unsure whether the new domain is up and running or not.
As part of my profession, I am required to conduct due diligence by examining various client documents. While the protection for such documents has greatly increased, but it has left me with accessibility complications. These documents are DRM protected, and the only option available is to physically print and re-scan them. And when I say only option, I mean this is the literally the only option. No OCR allowed, no text available, no zooming, no magnifying, no saving, and nothing which a man of ordinary prudence and if I may call ourselves, with decent understanding of technology can think of. Further, we are on Citrix, and our organization policies do not allow us to print outside of office, as the printer works on office lan. There is no outlook web access as well. So you are tide to Citrix completely. In this scenario, are you aware of any virtual printer, which can help me virtually print the document and run OCR using Fine Reader? Or, in your view, are there any ways to deal with this situation? What accessibility arguments if any, I can provide to virtual data room providers? Asking legal experts' opinion as well. The data room providers say that for client protection, we have completely disabled text, and it is on the client to provide you a text readable copy, if he so desires. At the client level, it becomes extremely difficult to ask for a readable version, basis the blindness. Thanks to sighted people, because of lack of digital adoption, they can still fight for printing rights, as our culture is less matured in terms of people sitting and viewing digital documents without printing rights all over the world. But it becomes difficult if a blind have to ask for a readable version. I will really appreciate any qualitative inputs which you all may have. Thanks.
