Dear All,

Greetings from Blind Graduates Forum of India (BGFI)!

Have you ever thought about why A person who isn’t telling the whole
truth may clear their throat, stammer or change their pitch as if to
try and sway your attention away from their lie or in order to stall
so they may have time to think up a valid answer or plausible
explanation? Additionally, foot tapping or bouncing, blushing, putting
our hand to our face, turning away or raising our shoulders may all be
indicators that we are uncomfortable with the conversation because we
are not telling the truth. These are just a few things that are
important for every day communication.

Non-verbal communication, also known as body language, often supersede
spoken language during communication. The shrug of the shoulder,
subtle facial expressions,
and other seemingly minor visual cues and clues sometimes are worth
more than even a thousand words. As a visually challenged individual
however, do you
struggle to incorporate this ability in your professional meetings,
personal interactions, and fail to convey that which words cannot
express?

We invite you to the May 2018 BGFI Knowledge sharing session which
will be conducted by Savita John
Sr. Principal Consultant at Kaleidoscope Consulting

Most people make an impression about you within seconds just by
observing your body language, Be it a job interview, a social
gathering or a date with
your special one. You are expected to display appropriate body
language even if you cannot see and read other’s body language.

The session will cover all key aspects of body language including eye
contact, upper and lower body posture, facial expressions, Dos and
donts. We will
also touch upon body language displayed typically by persons with
visual impairment. Let’s also discuss and together find out if there
are ways to read or infer certain aspects of body language of others
without really seeing.
