That's not necessarily the case in some of the older laptops. In fact many 
have just two mouse buttons. The best think is to read the manual as 
suggested by someone before. Or press f1 while on the desktop and type touch 
pad in the search box. It should pull the result.

HiFeel your Touch pad and look at it from every cornor of the touchpad. Now
figure out how many buttons are there touch. Three right? (one left mouse
button, one right mouse button) and, there's one small button.
Is there a small button? gently press that button to toggle touch pad on or
off.
Tip:    Jaws should say "f12" when it is off and "Clear" when it is on.
If your touch pad does not have that small button, go to control pannel and
check out the various options in mouse settings.
