Thankyou Ms. Payal, Rajesh Sir and Sandeep for your appreciation.
Well, Rajesh Sir, point taken. I am of course not only conscious of my
disability but happy to be disabled as it has made my life more
interesting! This is true of others as well for they would not have
behaved as they did had I not been less sighted. I got slightly
carried away in that statement "The process was so smooth that neither
I nor my friends became conscious of my disability." It often happens
that due to the negative, sympathetic , over protectionist and
sometimes insensitive approach of people towards me owing to my
disability, I sometimes feel frustrated and helpless, at times feeling
sad at not being able to meaningfully contribute. Such behaviour may
include talking to my companion instead of me, not asking my opinion,
not delegating me work etc. I have had similar experiences especially
in Nagpur and hence was elated by the restaurant's approach.
I also admit that having partial vision and living and studying in
integrated settings, I have still not fully internalised my
disability.
Best
