There is one issue with WhatsApp that no one here seems to be talking about - you can't have parallel conversations on multiple topics. It's something that email uniquely allows - threads. Which seems to be very important for communication on access India.
Some other mobile platforms like slack and flock allow it as well. But they aren't free, and probably not accessible either.
