Hi,

I too, had cast my vote yesterday and the overall experience was fine. Now, let me tell you that on the polling booth 112 in MD Public school in Sant Nagar Burari, at first they didn't have any knowledge on how to assist a visually impaired person but since I was with my wife, I didn't need much of assistance. However, when I reached on the polling booth and asked for the candidates list, they told me that they don't have the list in Braille and gave the printed one instead. When I told them that I would need to report this to EC, one of the senior person came and requested me to wait for couple of minutes and with in two minutes the person was back with the list. Rest of the process was very smooth. Amit ji, we were not asked to keep our mobiles away and in fact, I made a call to my boss from right within the polling booth when they said they don't have the list in Braille.

With best regards,

Hi all,

My dear friends With great regret yesterday I could not vote. The main
reason for this was that I got the information transport facility will be
provide for the PWD candidate on behalf of Election Commission of India.
Friends, I would like to tell you that 2 months ago I registered on PWD
App, because my current home location so far away from polling booth
station. Guys Its about 14 km, so I registered on PWD app. I regularly
checked status on PWD app, But I did not get any feedback on PWD app till
May 12.
Friends I realised that the PWD App by Election Commission of India is
useless for us.
Now you tell us what the advantage of the PWD App?
I feel very happy that Mr. Amit Bhatt or all vh friends has voted
successfully.

Even I had a smooth experience in a whole process of casting my vote at
booth number 76, School Block, Shakarpur east Delhi constituency.

I reached to the polling station around 10:00 AM yesterday. first of all I
was asked to submit my mobile phone with someone outside as they didn't
have
facility to secure the devices.
I submited my mobile to one of my known shop keeper outside and then again
entered to the booth. A volunteer lady asked my escort to straightaway
move
towards the booth without staying in any queue.

No offficial asked me whether I need a Braille list. Even I didn't ask for
Braille list this time.

This entire process of exercising my vote took around 20-25 minutes as the
polling station was just at the walking distance of 5 minutes from my
residence.

After reading so many experiences of visually impaird voters, it seems
most
of the things are nicely setteld by the Election Commition or even the
Government of India from accessibility point of view. As a result, people
have also become more sensitised and awaken towards voters with vision
impairment.

Thanks,

Amit Bhatt

Subject: [AI] My voting experience

Hi all,

I had a smooth experience while voting. The moment the officials in the
booth saw me, they asked me if I would use an escort or would I vote
independently? I got the Braille list without asking for it. It is
another
matter that I was not able to really read it but that is my failure in
terms of lack of Braille practice. The Braille list was clear. They had
me
sign in a register and they put the ink stamp without a fuss on my right
hand given that my left palm is partly formed.
