*No.2019/Stn.Dev.-1/09/01* *Sub: Meeting at Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment on 21.10.2019* *A Meeting was comvened by Secretary, Department of Empowerment of Persons* *with Disabilities/ Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment on 21.10.2019 regarding* *verification audit of 70 selected Railway Stations. The meeting was attended by SO/SD-* *(Shri. Vijay Singh) and undersigned.* *During the meeting Secretary, DEPwD suggested the following main points:* *. Ministry of Railways should make one or two stations (preferably New Delhi) as* *a model station from Universal Accessibility point of view. The station should* *also have Public Announcement/signages in sign language. This station should be* *a showcase station for Indian Railways and Hon'ble PM & Hon'ble Minister of* *Railways may also be apprised & requested for its inauguration for greater public* *awareness* *2. An exclusive inquiry counter/Help-booth may be provided near entry of the* *station which should serve as a "single window" for all information & assistance* *Operated* *(PWDS). Wheelchair/Battery* *Disabilities* *with* *for* *Persons* *Vehicle/Human Assistance etc. shall be made available at this window. Online* *booking of these facilities shall also be made available* *3. The new coach design should incorporate all accessibility features including* *foldable ramps with sensors etc. for safe boarding/deboarding of wheelchair* *bound passengers. Coach number and Seat Number should be provided in Braille* *Language. Wheelchair locking arrangement may also be provided in the coaches* *4. Proper accessibility of ATMS, Lifts, ticket counters, taps, toilets etc. to be* *ensured. Tactile path to be properly provided.* *5. For inter-platform transfer, Subway with Ramps/lifts should be preferred over* *Foot Over Bridges.* *6.
