Mobile heartbeat recorder developed

Jodhpur: Scientists and students at IIT Mumbai claim to have developed a unique
mobile nano device that can record the heart beat of a person constantly
for 12 hours.

"We have developed a silicon locket at IIT. It will record ECG for 12 hours in
one change of battery. The standard mobile interface will help the user to
send an SMS to the doctor about the latest ECG. This is going to help the
patients immensely," Professor V. Ramgopal Rao of IIT Mumbai said.

Professor Rao explained that it is a hand held device, can be carried by a
patient at all times. Once fully charged the battery can record 12 hours of ECG,
thus enabling doctors to diagnose the problem more precisely. Prof. Rao, who
was in the city to deliver a keynote address at National Conference on
Applications
of nanotechnology, informed that this device would hit the market very soon.
"This technology is cheap. It doesn't matter where you are." PTI
