Stay safe as a person with blindness in addition to all the safety rules that you would have already heard about, we would like to you specially keep in mind the following • If you are home alone without sighted help and due to social distancing inviting neighbours is avoidable- use Be My Eyes. It is an app you can download from google play and it will give you sighted assistance over a phone call with your phone camera to get your things done. • If you absolutely need to step out, ensure you wear gloves. Upon returning discard the gloves. • Ensure that when you return you sanitize your cane thoroughly before placing it anywhere. Whilst outside do not put the cane in your pocket with other items as that will contaminate other items in the pocket as well some of which may not be washable. • Ensure you wear a mask when you head out and discard it as soon as you return. • Details of how to wear and discard gloves, masks and sanitize canes is available on the detailed resources on the XRCVC website link mentioned below • Wear full sleeves clothing when out to avoid contamination chances • At a staircase avoid holding the banister as far as possible. Use the cane instead.
