We hope this finds you healthy and safe. As many countries in the world continue to fight the COVID-19 virus, Vision-Aid is trying to spread a new bug – LOLOM–20. LOLOM stands for Love of Learning on MOOCs. This is a positive, safe and wholesome bug. Good for everyone! Visually impaired students from anywhere in the world can use Massive Open Online Courses (or MOOCs) to access a wonderful and wide range of Online courses from the best universities in the world including MIT, Stanford, Harvard and others using MOOCs. Popular MOOC platforms include edX , Coursera and many more. Learning is usually completely free of cost, but the platforms also offer a variety of certification options for nominal fees. Now, students can even earn degrees from reputed universities using MOOCs. Vision-Aid and our students have been using MOOC’s for many years, and now we are pleased to share the first in a 3-part webinar series, a detailed discussion about how MOOCs have been used by our visually impaired students. The panels are led by Vision-Aid’s award-winning power mentor and volunteer Sonal P. Patel . Sonal is joined on the 3 panels by current or former Vision-Aid students and mentors - Aditi, Bhargav, Sagar, Manjot, Bharat, Ronak, Laxmi, Bhavya, Pranav, Bhuvi, Aarush and Nisha who each share their views and experiences of using MOOCs.
