Greetings to you!
This time Centre for Disabilities and Inclusive Education, Savitribai
Phule Pune University has planned to conduct Certificate course in
Basic Computing and Assistive Technology Learning (CBCATL) through
online mode due to Covid-19 pandemic situation.(August-January batch)
About the program:
It is a part time certificate program of 6 months duration designed
with the objective to make students with disabilities independent in
academics and profession. The program will be of 90 hours. Out of
which 30 hours will be theory courses and 60 hours will be practical
courses. 3 to 4 hours classes will be conducted in each week
preferably on Friday and Saturday .
The program covers:
-Hardware Basics: Structure and functioning of RAM, ROM, Hard Disk,
SMPS, Processor, Motherboard, Wiring and ports etc.
-Software: Types, System software, Application software, Security
software, Office utility software, Media tools, Browsers etc.
-Computer networking: LAN, WAN, MAN etc.
-Hands-on on Assistive technologies: JAWS, NVDA, ORCA, ZoomText, Magic
Magnifier, Kurzweil 1000, Speech recognition tools etc. introduction
of Braille embossers, PlexTalk, Braille type writer, and several other
assistive technologies etc.
-Hands-on knowledge of MS office: Word, Excel, Power Point.
-Web operating: General Websites Symantec structure, Screen reader
software shortcut keys, Email, General web browsing, Filling up online
utility forms using JAWS or NVDA etc.
There will be 8 theory and 20 practical sessions.
The students should have laptop or desktop computer with internet
connectivity. Online program will be conducted using Google Meet
application.
Medium of instruction will be in Marathi and English.
Registration is open till 17th august.

Admission will be first come first serve basis.
Seats are limited (20 only) preference will be given to students in
Maharashtra and around Pune region as they may be called for
completion of some practical courses if the situation will be
improved.
Eligibility:
1. The Candidate should be a persons with disabilities certified by
Civil surgeon of any district civil hospital in India. Or parent of a
child with disabilities. or Social worker working for persons with
disabilities.
2. The candidate should have Higher Secondary Certificate.
3. Parents of persons with disabilities are also eligible for the course.
Note:
The course will be free for all.
