Trust to observe Braille Day Staff Reporter Programme to promote use of Braille among visually impaired BANGALORE: Sahana Charitable Trust for the Disabled is celebrating Louis Braille Day along with the trust's seventh anniversary on January 20 at Hampinagar in Bangalore city. Addressing presspersons here on Thursday, trust's managing trustee Lakshmi Devi said that the trust planned to encourage poor children with other physical disabilities, to pursue their education by providing books and hostel facility. "We appeal to philanthropists and like-minded persons to help us financially in this endeavour of making the disabled self-reliant," she said. To mark the trust's anniversary and also Louis Braille Day, a programme has been arranged to promote and encourage usage of Braille among the visually impaired. Various competitions in reading and writing Braille, singing for visually impaired and disabled persons aged above 16 and drawing competition for deaf and dumb students will be conducted on that day, she said.
