Dear Friends,
We have received many requests from visually impaired students pursuing
commerce [email protected] about the accessibility of
Tally software with screenreaders. Snehankit Helpline for the Visually
Impaired (SHVI) has decided to conduct an online session for these
students and all other interested visually impaired persons on Tally and
its use with screenreaders on 8th May 2021 at 2 pm.
What is tally?
Tally is an accounting software which is used to record day-to-day
transactions of businesses and prepare their Profit & Loss Account and
Balance-sheet. The most widely-used version of Tally currently is Tally
ERP 9.
Tally is not as accessible with screenreaders like Word or Excel. But
with certain workarounds, a visually impaired person can use Tally as
effectively as a sighted person.
Who can register for this session?
All those individuals who have basic knowledge of accounts and all
students who are pursuing commerce and have completed Standard 11 can
register for this session.
All interested visually impaired persons can register for this session
by filling up the below Google form and by contacting the Snehankit
Helpline for the Visually Impaired (SHVI) office on the following
contact numbers 9892312281.
The last date for registration is 25th April 2021.

Mr. Sameer Latey, who himself is a visually impaired person, also a
Chartered Accountant currently working in Reliance Industries Ltd. and a
management committee member of Snehankit Helpline for the Visually
Impaired (SHVI) will conduct the session.
