Hi Tanmay,
If you're running NVDA 2019.3 or later (hopefully I'm remembering the
version right), open the NVDA menu, navigate to preferences, and then
go into settings. Control-tab till you get to vision, and tab till you
get to screen curtain, which is a checkbox. If you tab past screen
curtain, you have options to configure how you'd like to use it -
whether you'd like a warning each time you turn it on, whether you'd
like an auditory indication when your screen blacks out, and so forth.
So far, I don't think there's a shortcut to turn on screen curtain (as
there is with JAWS), but I'm primarily a JAWS user and only use NVDA
occasionally so don't take my word for it :)

I hope this helped some, and if someone else who's a frequent NVDA
user could chip in and talk more about it, I'd also be interested to
know if there's quicker ways of doing this.
Warm regards,
Aparna
P.S. If you have a version older than 2019.3, I believe there's an
add-on to make screen curtain functionality available.
