Background
With Technological advancements, blind / low vision persons can not only
lead a normal life but an extraordinary one. Use of assistive
Technologies enhances quality of life and independent living among blind/low
vision people. However, still many blind low vision people struggles to
lead a normal life due to lack of awareness regarding assistive
technologies and even sometimes strives for survival as right
information doesnt reach to them at right time. As a result, they
loose the most crucial time of their life sitting idol which infact
they could have made use of for building their career.
Considering awareness issues and challenges faced by low vision/blind
person, we , a group of friends, have initiated awareness program for
spreading awareness regarding use of assistive technologies by low vision
/blind persons
Objective
Our idea is to spread awareness through self explanatory document bearing
title LIFE BEYOND SIGHT, and a series of audios containing useful and
relevant information regarding various assistive devices. For this, we are
sharing the mentioned document and audios with various eye hospitals /eye
specialists/ blind schools/ blind as well as sighted community so
that such information can reach to many low vision/blind
patients in time.
Request
Hence, we request you to support us on our endeavor by sharing
the document and audios with low vision/blind people , Please feel free
to use/reproduce these materials in any suitable manner for instance, can
put in display , distributions as pamphlets etc.
