As in the past, Union Access embarked on mass awareness activities at the bank level and we are happy to share another such program. Union Bank is a pioneer in celebrating special days like 3rd December, International Day for Persons with Disabilities and 19th May, Global Accessibility Awareness Day. On October 15, “White Cane Safety Day” is observed around the world. White Cane Safety Day celebrates the achievements of blind or visually impaired people. As part of awareness campaign bank celebrated this special day on a large scale In the bank the day celebration on October 15, 2022 is well received by the field functionaries at various levels. Bank top leaders also issued special message for the day to the staff. Social media post and HR team mass emailer were circulated. The concept of self-advocating is practiced which gave an opportunity to bank’s employees with vision impairment to demo, present and interact on the occasion of special day celebration with seniors and fellow colleagues. This celebration of the day has surely helped in more awareness and sensitization of bank employees. We share this here as awareness plays a vital role in the efforts of advocating for inclusion and accessibility.
