Dear all,

You may be aware that Amazon had launched the Echo Show series some time
earlier. It is a smart speaker with screen and camera. It is available in
different screen sizes of 5 inch, 8 inch and more.

It has the same functionality as Amazon Echo speakers. You can say Alexa,
and ask it do different tasks. The addition is that sighted persons can
watch videos, photos etc. on the screen. One can make video calls and use it
as a surveillance camera.

The good thing is that it has the VoiceView screen reader built into it. So
visually impaired persons can use its touch screen almost like that of a
tablet and configure it. It can also be controlled from the Alexa app on
phone.

I think it can be a very useful device for visually impaired couples for
their sighted children as it has lot of educational and recreational content
and lot can be controlled by the parents.

One visually impaired couple is using it now in my knowledge. We have one
such device in NAB delhi Beyond Eyes centre for those who want to check it
out.

Hope to meet many of you in Goa.
