Indian Bank, Kovalam Branch, Chennai in collaboration with the National Institute for Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (NIEPMD) under Dept. of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Govt. of India, Chennai inaugurated the “Universal Accessible ATM” at NIEPMD campus, Muttukadu Chennai on 26th April 2023. The existing ATM centre has been renovated and modified with Universal Accessible features to access by PwDs at a cost of Rs.8.57 lakhs by Indian Bank, Kovalam Branch. The Universal Accessibility features which include Signage board for easy identification of Divyangjan user-friendly ATM, 6 feet wide Ramp for Accessible of Wheelchair users & Persons with Locomotor Disability, Tactile pavements for Persons with Visual Impairment & Low vision, Anti slippery & Color contrast tiles on ramp for preventing fall and better guidance, Specialized Handrail with Lower & upper extension, sliding door for wider opening easy accessibility on wheelchair, Alphanumeric iconic signage with Braile on ATM machine, contrast color & illumination screen, Audio instruction for Screen usage, Low height cash dispenser and Audio output with Headphone. The Universal Accessible ATM was inaugurated by Shri.A.R.Raghulnadh, IAS, District Collector, Chengalpet. During the program 10 Persons with Disabilities were distributed Aids & Appliances and also 120 School bags were distributed to Persons with Multiple Disabilities who get rehabilitation services, training, and attending Model Special School. Dr.A.Amaranath, Director I/c, NIEPMD, Shri.Rajeswara Reddy, Field General Manager, Indian Bank, Chennai, Shri.A. Rajaraman, Zonal Manager, Kanchipuram, Shri.N.Sankar, Deputy Zonal Manager, Kancheepuram, and Shri. Kumar K. Verma, Branch Manager, Kovalam Branch was among those present on the occasion.
