To,
Shri. Om Birla
Hon'ble Speaker of Lok Sabha.
India

The Blind Persons’ Association , is a registered voluntary charitable
organization and has been working since October , 1947 for the betterment
of blind individuals residing in Mumbai and its suburbs & adjoining
districts of Thane, Raigad & Palghar. BPA caters to the needs of
non-institutionalized blind persons hailing from weaker economic strata.
This in reference to a highly objectionable remarks made by Shri. Aadhir
Ranjan Chaudhary, leader of opposition in Lok Sabha on 10th August 2023
about the blind community while discussing no confidence motion. The
reference of the King being blind in Mahabharta was responsible for
Dravpati's molestation . We all know that the unfortunate incidents in
the epic has nothing to do with the King being blind. In the
presence context Shri. Chaudhary has use this reference which is
undermining the ability of blind individuals.

We would like to remind Shri. Chaudhary about the former M. P Shri. Sadan
Chandra Gupta from West Bengol who was totally blind and served lok sabha
to the best of his ability. The visual disability does not make a person
incapable of discharging his / her duties .On behalf of the visually
impaired community we strongly deplore the derogatory remarks of Shri.
Chaudhary. We request your good self to seek unconditional apology from
the member of parliament and refer to the matter to privilege committee
and take appropriate action under rights of persons with disability act
2016.

Thanks and Regards,

Suhas Karnik
