Hello to the group, Have you all realised that viewing someone's status in Whatsapp is so boring and confusing. You do not understand the photos except for the caption written for them. That's why I found the contact details of Whatsapp's accessibility team and wrote them a mail, requesting this feature just now. For now, I have received a kind of auto generated Email. However, I recommend that everyone in this group, write such a mail to really get their attention. So, write them an Email at [email protected] Also, pasting my Email below for reference.
Hello to the Whatsapp team,This is Saurav Hegde from IndiaI am a blind user and use Watsapp on a regular basis.In-fact, many blind people in my community use it regularly.In Whatsapp, we face a problem that whenever someone uploads a status on their Whatsapp profile, we are unable to understand what the photo is about..Talkback is only able to read the text written about the photo.This makes engaging with their content very boring and uninformative.I request that like Instagram, Whatsapp add a feature that an image description is generated for every photo shared automatically and the person uploading the photo can also put a proper alt text for the blind or visually impaired user to read.This would be of great help as it would make using Whatsapp more entertaining and informative.
