It is not a good idea to keep the laptop in sleep mode always. If you are going to step away from your laptop for a longer duration, sleep mode isn't the best way to keep your device and data secure. This is because the RAM draws considerable amount of battery to retain the data securely. A prolonged sleep mode can drain the battery letting your laptop abruptly shut down.
