What is stumbleupon?
Stumbleupon is a system that allows people to discover
and rate sites, pictures, videos, etc. It is available
both as a web browser plugin, or as a "stumble" button
on the site.

Stumbleupon is based on a recommendation system. The
user basically clicks the stumble button which then
brings to him a site, article, video or photo based on
his earlier stumbles. The user can rate his stumbles,
and future stumbles will be based on the choice, and
similar patterns. stumbleupon was acquired by eBay in
2007, and all further development in stumble is being
handled by eBay.
The idea behind stumbleupon is to create virtual
communities of like-minded web surfers. A rating of a
website updates the personal profile of the user, and
thus generates networks of users linked by a common
interest. A user can give a "thumbs up" or a "thumbs
down" to a site and leave optional comments as review.
