The seminar seeks to begin a conversation on reshaping the very definition of meritocracy and pave the way for a future where reservation and promotions for Disabled persons are not a mere quota, but a celebration of their exceptional talents and unwavering contributions. We seek to move beyond traditional models, pioneering innovative frameworks that celebrate diverse abilities and nurture inclusive career development pathways for the Disableds. By recognizing and valuing their unique strengths and contributions, we aim for a truly equitable work-spaces. The intent is to deconstruct the Invisible Walls while collectively unpacking the intricate tapestry of existing promotion practices that disproportionately impact Disabled Persons. Thereby, we will chart a Roadmap for Action: Through dynamic discourse and collaboration with legal experts, policymakers, academic leaders, and Disabled persons themselves, we will translate insights into tangible solutions. This comprehensive roadmap will empower universities, government bodies, and employers to dismantle systemic barriers and foster a culture of inclusive advancement. The conference agenda features a series of thought-provoking sessions, including: • Exploring the Legal Landscape: We'll delve into the evolution of legal frameworks surrounding reservations for PWD promotions, analysing milestones achieved and identifying persistent hurdles. interpretation of relaxation in promotion and direct recruitment beyond the entry level posts being one of the many. • A Critical Lens on Promotion Policies: We'll dissect the Academic Performance Index (API) and career advancement schemes established by the UGC for higher education, seeking opportunities for improvement and ensuring inclusivity for PWDs. • Unpacking Sector-Specific Challenges: Sub-sessions will focus on specific sectors like School Education and Banking, allowing for in-depth exploration of sector-specific obstacles and the co-creation of targeted solutions; also Unveiling Lived Experiences. PWDs disabled People themselves will share their personal narratives and the unique challenges they encounter in seeking promotions and navigating direct selection processes. • Fostering Pathways for Action: distinguished speakers and participants shall engage in the free-wheeling interactive cession.
