Hi Harish, Thanks for this feedback, good to know. Does Rufus allow backing up the entire hard drive including operating system, then to move it later to another hard drive if the existing drive crashes? What if the restore drive has a smaller disk capacity than the source drive from which the image was originally made, but the actual data is less than the target disk, does Rufus allow restructuring the image to fit the smaller disk capacity?
This is why I moved away from Windows Backup, because it doesn't allow moving the disk to another disk without forcing the partition sizes to match the source. Macrium will allow you during the restore, to use the maximum partition size as the maximum available disk space, so that even if you bought a smaller disk for your operating system later, it will still restore to it provided of course the data can fit. The other problem is with Windows Backup, even if you later get a larger disk than the source disk to target for the restore, Windows Backup will create the OS partition as the size of the source disk, leaving the remaining capacity of your new larger disk not included in your partition. That's quite useless. So Macrium helps prevent all this. Now I'm wondering about Rufus and whether it can also do this? Thanks.
