you can purchase a chess board from many institutes working for the
blind in india. better to find your nearest one. yes, you can absolutely
play and compete chess with your sighted counterpart without any fear
whether he is watching your movements on the board. Braille is not a
requirement to play chess. however, you should learn braille to improve
your skills and for your betterment. chessboard for the blind are
specially designed and a sighted person can also easily play with you on
same board. no need to worry, purchase the board and enjoy it. you can
also play chess with computer. a winboard is an accessible chess game on
computer.

Hi all
I used to play chess before I lost my vision. However after becoming
blind, I stopped.
I want to start playing again. I want to know a few things regarding
this.
Where can I buy a durable chess board for the blind? A link to the
product online would be greatly appreciated. Note: I don’t know Braille.
Also, how to play chess being visually impaired?
I mean, a sighted person can observe the entire board at once. This is
important to get an idea of all threats and attacks. So, what should
we do? Should we have to memorise the board?
Any other thoughts are also welcome.
Thank you in advance
Regards
Ruhin
