Hi Access Indians,

Have identified a couple of issues with recent WhatsApp releases and
compiled a documentation along with screen-captures. Forwarding this email
sent to [email protected]
<mailto:[email protected]> ; this email address is listed
on their site for Accessibility related contact.

Urge you to review the content and send to WhatsApp Accessibility team so
that these can be prioritized at their end and resolved at the earliest.

*Note that these issues are faced on Android devices. A few of them have
workarounds however, permanent fixes will be of greater help.

Warm Regards,

Zujar

Subject: WhatsApp accessibility issues

Hi,

Below are various accessibility issues experienced by visually challenged
users in recent WhatsApp releases.

1. The Compose Message edit box has become inaccessible since release
of version 2.24.19.86
2. Text selection in chats is not spoken
3. Focus shifts to Compose Message edit box after Message selection in
an open chat
4. Tapping on menu options speaks selected prior to its name/label

These issues are described in this document
<https://docs.google.com/document/d/1rtAjt2gphIksN0oyFZ8MEOzmJWxXxROe/edit?u
sp=sharing&ouid=111421693529830701687&rtpof=true&sd=true> .

Zujar
