As a visually impaired bank employee, do you have the same job satisfaction and respect as your sighted colleagues? Does your present job allow you to utilize all your knowledge and skill? Do you feel there is bias in performance appraisal by the superiors? Do you feel mandatory assignments not suitable for visually impaired like branch head stand as impediments in promotions to higher scales? Do you feel reservation in promotions to higher scales should be provided to PWDs? Are the information technology portals in your bank accessible as per standards to allow you to work comfortably? Do you get regular trainings on your present job and special training on screen readers? If you have low vision, do you feel you are allotted jobs like sighted persons without considering your vision condition and not providing low vision aids? Have your been transferred from your preferred place of posting though PWDs have exemption? Is the special conveyance allowance of Rs. 600 sufficient for your commutation between office and residence? Do you know the name of liaison officer and grievance redressel committee for PWDs in your bank? Do you agree that all the above is because RPWD Act 2016 and finance ministry guidelines 2014 are not implemented in banks in letter in spirit? If you believe its time to bring about change in the positive direction, then don’t just be silent, stand up and get your opinion counted by filling up the survey VIBEWA is conducting to capture the lived experiences of visually impaired bankers. Last time VIBEWA conducted this survey in 2015, the findings from the report were submitted to public sector banks, MSJE, finance ministry, DOPT and CCPD for better policies and meaningful implementations. We had 550 responses way back in 2015, but only 550 in 2024 with expected visually impaired bank employees almost 10,000, better reach out through social media, and dedicated volunteers waiting to assist in filling the survey. Its only 10 minutes of your time that will shape your future in the right direction.
