Workshop on Web Accessibility Background: On 28th January, 2025, the office of the Chief Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities (CCPD) directed around 200 Government and Private establishments who were summoned by the CCPD to commission an accessibility audit of their digital platforms, websites and/or applications by 5th February 2025. This establishes a precedent for all other Government and Private bodies to follow suit and ensure complete accessibility of their digital platforms.
Several of these complaints were filed by the Co-Founders of Mission Accessibility after unsuccessful attempts to advocate for web accessibility. However, we do not believe ensuring accessibility is an adversarial endeavour. We want to help establishments in making their digital platforms disabled friendly. We are therefore organizing a workshop to guide institutions as to what they need to do to make their digital platforms disabled friendly. About the Facilitators: Rahul Bajaj and Amar Jain are Co-Founders of Mission Accessibility, who are both lawyers who are blind and are accessibility experts with more than a decade of advocacy and implementation experience in the domain of digital access. Together, they have worked with organizations such as the Rhodes Trust, Vidihi Centre for Legal Policy, and the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DePwD) in making their digital presence accessible to persons with disabilities.
