Hello everyone, Allocating funds alone is not sufficient; robust monitoring mechanisms, such as the Parliamentary Standing Committee, must ensure the proper implementation of various projects. Without effective oversight, many well-intended schemes fail to achieve their objectives.
The disability pension, which has remained stagnant at ₹300 since 2012. Does this reflect the government's commitment to improving the lives of persons with disabilities? If we truly seek an inclusive society, shouldn’t such critical support systems be periodically reviewed and updated? Looking forward to your thoughts. And yes, I agree that new allocation is not a big issue in comparison to rightful utilisation of the already allocated budget. But our systems are such that despite having progressive legislations, provisions and the money, the implementation and sanctioning remains a challenge. In my experience, the government shirks away from even spending small amounts of money in the order of lakhs for various initiatives that are undertaken either by them or by civil society organisations. They have enough money to do so. And that needs to be focused on. Even an increase in allocation by 50, cr is a big amount. I say this as somebody who has great difficulty raising money for an organisation working in this sector. If someone gave me 50, cr, rupees there are 100 different positive things I could do with that. For me, the effective utilization of allocated funds is more crucial than the amount allocated. However, ministries/departments often fail to utilize their allocated funds within a financial year, prompting the government to reduce allocations in subsequent years."
