Job hunting as a blind or visually impaired person is anything but
straightforward. From apathetic HRs to downright insensitive hiring
managers, the process sucks the soul out of me every single time.

For non-disabled folks, finding a job is just another routine part of life.
But if you’re visually impaired and simply looking for your next
opportunity, you quickly realize you’re no longer just a sailor searching
for smooth waters. Then who are you? A pirate? Seaweed? A piece of heavy
luggage? maybe a work of art no one wants in their captain’s cabin anymore?

These experiences need to be heard, understood, and—hopefully, in the next
2000 years—eliminated. So, I sat down to write one of the longest pieces in
my blogging career, sharing the weirdest and most ridiculous encounters
I’ve had while trying to land a job.

Read on and don't hold back from showering the piece with your
responses—positive, negative, love, disagreements —I want to hear them all.
