I met Praveen Prakash Ambashta sir (Deputy Chief Commissioner of Persons with Disabilities) at Delhi's Purple Fest the day before yesterday. I asked him many questions, and surprisingly, he responded to all of them. I am writing down a few questions and answers here, so if you're interested, you can benefit from them too. Note: I asked questions and tried to share as much as possible about the ground realities on important topics related to Persons with Disabilities, such as NGOs, Special Education, Inclusive Education, Scribes, Computer Exams instead of using Scribes and Microsoft Narrator etc. Please do not take this as a literal interview. Our conversation was long. I am trying to make this message concise, as our conversation was not structured like the format below. For clarity, I have organized the questions and answers as follows while removing almost every sensitive point: 1. What is the update on increasing penalties for inaccessible service providers, as February 28th was the date for imposing higher penalties sir? Answer: He responded that they have received 96 accessibility audit reports out of 155 inaccessible service providers. They are processing the reports, and action will be taken.
2. These are only accessibility audits, but the remediation of the issues is not happening. What is your take on this, sir? Answer: He mentioned that due to Accessibility Audit now the issues are being acknowledged in the Accessibility Audits Reports by inaccessible service providers. 3. Will you implement my idea of live-streaming CCPD hearings? If implemented, it could be very beneficial, sir. Answer: He said that once all the Commissioners are appointed and permissions are granted, this idea will be implemented. He also shared few technical issues. Ashutosh Singhal -- Disclaimer: 1.
