This is the full LinkedIn Post: 🇮🇳 Zomato and Blinkit Set a Benchmark for
Accessibility in Tech
I am a person with visual impairment (blind). Many people still don’t know
that even without vision, smartphones, laptops, and other devices can be
fully operated using screen readers — powerful assistive tools for people
with disabilities.
However, screen reader users and others relying on assistive tech cannot
access most digital platforms if those platforms do not follow proper
Accessibility Guidelines.
This isn’t just a technical issue — it’s an inclusion crisis.
đź”´ 96% of digital platforms are inaccessible to persons with disabilities.
🌍 According to global data, over 16% of the world’s population — more than
130 crore people (more than 1.3 billion people)— live with a disability.
When platforms ignore accessibility, they are not just excluding users —
they are missing out on a massive market, valuable customer base, and
meaningful impact.

✅ Zomato and Blinkit took a different route — and led by example.
At Convention 2025, I was proud to join other users with visual impairments
and share direct accessibility feedback with developers and executives from
Zomato and Blinkit — two of India’s leading tech platforms under the
Eternal group.
đź’¬ Both teams actively listened to how their apps perform with screen
readers.
📲 We shared our experiences, highlighted challenges, and gave practical
suggestions.
👨‍💼 What’s more inspiring — the CEO of Blinkit himself was present at the
convention, showing deep commitment and seriousness.
This is likely the first dedicated feedback session of its kind by consumer
tech platforms in India specifically for screen reader users.
👏 I truly appreciate this initiative — and hope other companies will
follow Eternal’s lead to build inclusive platforms by:
1. Adopting Accessibility Standards (like WCAG)
2. Training developers and designers
3. Taking feedback from real users with disabilities
Let’s work toward a digital ecosystem that includes everyone, not just some.
