It seems NVDA doesn’t have a single “always-on” toggle for phonetics. Instead, you can use these shortcuts with focus on the character you want to check: - Laptop layout: Press NVDA + . (period) twice quickly to hear the phonetic description. - Desktop layout: Press Numpad 2 twice quickly to hear the phonetic description of the current character. I tested the laptop layout shortcut and it worked for me — hope this helps resolve the issue.
