That's a fantastic question! Screen Recognition is one of the most powerful and often overlooked features for VoiceOver users.
Its main purpose is to make inaccessible apps and screens accessible when they weren't designed correctly for VoiceOver. The feature essentially uses Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Optical Character Recognition (OCR) to look at the screen when VoiceOver can't figure out what something is. It acts as a translator for "broken" apps: It helps to label unlabeled buttons (e.g., if a developer forgot to label the "Settings" button, the AI figures it out and announces it as "Possibly Settings button"). It helps read text embedded in images or non-standard areas of the screen. It improves navigation in complex or custom app interfaces. I personally find it incredibly useful! I have Screen Recognition added to my VoiceOver Rotor so I can quickly access it and turn it on when an app is being difficult. I specifically use this feature for popular food and delivery applications like Zomato, Swiggy, and Blink It, which often have complex or poorly labeled interfaces. For a great video tutorial that describes and demonstrates setting up and using this feature with VoiceOver, you can check out this link: Video Title: Visually Impaired Should Set Up VoiceOver Recognition. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KDYHe-8O0SI -----Originl Message----- From: [email protected] <[email protected]> On Behalf Of BHAWANI SHANKAR VERMA Sent: Wednesday, November 5, 2025 6:37 PM To: [email protected] Subject: [AI] IPhone query Hello accessindia!
