I do not know which version of Whatsapp I have installed on my Windows 10 PC but it seems to be working fine for me with NVDA. I use CNTRL + F to search for a contact, use the down arrow to read the search results and hit enter on the contact from the search results to start a chat with them. In the chat window I can SHIFT TAB to the other controls like getting to the EMOJI and ADD ATTACHMENT buttons. Hitting TAB in the edit field of the chat will take me to the Record Voice Message button. If I need to send the message after typing it in the edit box I just hit enter to send the message.
Sorry I know this is not of much help, I mainly use the TAB key to get to other parts of the application.
