While the intent behind these instructions is to help users maintain a familiar
interface, following them poses significant risks to your computer's security
and the functionality of the app itself.

Missing Critical Patches: Pausing Windows Updates stops the delivery of
security patches that protect you from malware, ransomware, and exploits.
Leaving a system unpatched for five weeks makes it a "sitting duck" for known
threats.

WhatsApp updates often include fixes for privacy bugs or encryption
vulnerabilities. Using an outdated version leaves your personal conversations
more exposed to being compromised.

The instructions suggest searching online for an older version. This is
dangerous because:

• Third-Party Sources: Official versions are only hosted on the Microsoft Store
or WhatsApp’s website. Downloading an .exe or .msi file from a random
third-party site is a primary way people accidentally install spyware or
keyloggers.

• Digital Signatures: Most users don't know how to verify if a downloaded file
is digitally signed by Meta/Facebook, making it easy to be tricked by a fake
installer.

Turning off Microsoft Store updates affects all your apps. Your calculator,
photos app, and mail client will all stop receiving improvements and bug fixes
just to keep one version of WhatsApp, which—as mentioned—will likely be
disabled by the server anyway.

Subject: [AI] want to switch to classic/old version of whatsapp desktop?

Dear friends and group members,

Are you still looking for an older version of WhatsApp? If you are not
comfortable using the newer or more complex versions of WhatsApp, here is a
possible solution.

1. Open the Microsoft Store and turn off automatic app updates.
2. Pause updates for up to five weeks.
3. Install the current version of WhatsApp from the Microsoft Store.
4. Then, search online for an older version of WhatsApp, download it, and
install it.
5. Reconfigure or relink your WhatsApp account with your primary device.

This will allow you to switch back to an older version of WhatsApp if you
prefer.

If you find this helpful, please let me know.
