Hi everyone,

It’s been a while since I wasn't active on the list, so it feels good to
be back.

I am currently upgrading my home studio setup for professional VoiceOver
and broadcasting work. My goal is to achieve that "heavy, bassy"
radio-style sound. I am running *Windows 11 with JAWS*, so
accessibility—specifically having physical knobs rather than relying on
inaccessible software control panels—is my top priority.

I have been doing some research on a few specific combinations, and I would
love to hear from anyone here who has hands-on experience with them
regarding accessibility and gain handling.

*1. The Audio Interface:* I am leaning towards the *Focusrite Scarlett Solo
(4th Gen)* because I’ve read it has a higher gain range (69dB) than
previous models, which might remove the need for a Cloudlifter.

   -

*My Question:* Has anyone used the 4th Gen Scarlett with JAWS? Are there
any hidden accessibility traps in the "Focusrite Control 2" software, or
can I rely purely on the physical knobs for daily recording?
   -

*Alternatives:* If not Focusrite, is there another interface in a
similar price range (like the Audient iD series or Universal Audio Volt)
that you find more accessible/tactile for a blind user?

*2. The Microphone (Dynamic XLR):* I am looking for a dynamic broadcast
microphone that offers a deep, rich tone without needing too much
post-processing. I am currently debating between two models:

   -

*Shure MV7X:* I like that it’s a passive XLR mic (no touch panels), but
I'm worried about whether it provides enough "body" without EQ.
   -

*sE Electronics DCM6 (DynaCaster):* This one interests me because of the
built-in "Dynamite" preamp (+30dB boost) and the physical switches on the
   back.
   -

*My Question:* Has anyone here used the sE DCM6? Are the switches on the
back easy to distinguish by touch? Or should I stick to the
   industry-standard Shure?

*3. Mobile Connectivity (Android & iPhone):* Crucially, I also need to use
this interface with my *OnePlus 13 (Android)* and *iPhone 15*.

   -

Does the Scarlett Solo (4th Gen) work as a "plug-and-play"
   class-compliant device on these phones?
   -

Has anyone experienced power drain issues when running it off a phone
battery, or do you recommend using a powered hub/power bank in the chain?

Any advice, specifically from a "blindness perspective" regarding the
physical layout and cross-platform reliability of these units, would be
incredibly helpful.

Thanks in advance,
