Hi all, I just wanted to share my perspective on this, and I will leave it to Harish sir to decide whether this discussion aligns with the mailing list's guidelines. Since this mailing list does not allow sharing or discussing pirated software, I believe discussions relating to the Google TTS NVDA add-on or the use of Eloquence with the IBMTTS driver should not be featured here. The reason is that neither of these add-ons provides users with officially licensed speech libraries that are freely distributable or commercially available for standalone use. Regarding the Google TTS add-on, the authors have managed to extract Google's WASM speech synthesis engine and rewrote parts of the core logic to optimize audio processing and integrate it with NVDA. The add-on most likely uses the speech components for the ChromeOS built-in and enhanced network voices, and allows those libraries to communicate with NVDA through a custom synthesizer driver implemented in Python. However, Google does not officially provide these voice libraries for standalone third-party use outside of its own products. So, obtaining these components through unofficial or unauthorized distribution channels and using them outside the scope of Google's intended platforms may violate its licensing terms or usage restrictions. On the other hand, the IBMTTS driver itself does not constitute copyright infringement. It is an open source NVDA synthesizer driver developed using IBM's publicly available TTS SDK documentation, and it does not include any IBM or Eloquence speech synthesis libraries. Its purpose is simply to enable NVDA to communicate with an installed IBMTTS-compatible synthesizer. This driver is compatible with Eloquence libraries as Eloquence has the same api as IBMTTS. However, that compatibility should not be interpreted as permission to use or distribute the Eloquence libraries without a valid license. In fact, The original author of the IBMTTS driver (David CM <https://github.com/davidacm>) explicitly state that he cannot distribute the speech libraries and recommends obtaining the appropriate usage rights before using any compatible synthesis library.
