HI,

Here are my answers.

1. Would it be fair to say that the limitations you mentioned are
primarily due to the AI being in its early stages of development?

Gemini is fairly well developed and mature I think. But it is not designed as
an assistant for the blind. Nothing stops Google from adding those features to
it. But I doubt when that will happen. So, our expectations of it helping in
mobility, document reading may not be met from this mainstream AI. Specialist
devices will do that but their performance and accuracy is not comparable with
Gemini. So, it is a trade-off between specialist and mainstream devices.

2. What is the current retail price of these glasses?

Rs. 22,000 at present after discount.

2. Is it possible to get a product demonstration anywhere? If so, where
could I go to experience a demo?

I have kept my device in NAB Delhi Assistive Technology Experience Centre.
Visit on any weekday and you can see and try it.

thanks,

Prashant

Hi Prashant Sir,

Thank you for sharing your early review of the B by Lenskart Smart Glass. It
was very informative, especially from the perspective of accessibility.

Regarding the performance details you shared, I had a few questions:

1. Would it be fair to say that the limitations you mentioned are primarily
due to the AI being in its early stages of development?
2. What is the current retail price of these glasses?
3. Is it possible to get a product demonstration anywhere? If so, where could
I go to experience a demo?

Thank you for your time, and I look forward to your detailed review.

Warm regards,

Udit Pandey

Early review of B by Lenskart Smart Glass

Considering the deep interest in Lenskart B Smart Glass, I am giving my opinion
after only second day of use. detailed review will come later.

* Setup is simple and mostly accessible.

* The B by Lenskart app is required. It is available for Android and iOS. It is
manageable with Voiceover on iPhone.

* On saying Hey Buddy it responds. I can speak in English or Hindi I need not
change language in the app.

* It actually has Gemini and has all the powers and accuracy of it.

* Live AI also works.

Things I am yet to figure out:

* Despite asking it to look and read it asks for confirmation to take a photo
again. It does not do it in one voice command.

* It recognizes fairly accurately English and Hindi print text. But always
summarises the text and does not read word by word. When I insist and say Read
aloud each word, it starts reading from top but after few sentences asks if I
want more and then tends to summarise the text.

* In Live AI I have to ask again and again to describe things despite my prompt
to automatically do so.

* Live AI does not seem to be useful for detecting obstacles for the blind. ON
giving voice commands it gives accurate description of the scene but does not
do so automatically and cannot be relied upon to get warning for obstacles in
the path.

* Live AI session ends after a few minutes automatically.

* In the app it says I have 3 months fair usage and after that limitations may
apply.

As i said earlier, I am still exploring the behaviour of this AI. May be few
more things will get sorted out as I understand it further.

Pros:

The response time is good. The facility of using a cable to charge the glass
while wearing means that battery is not a big concern. it can be used all
day.

The frame size is good for my face and waring it is comfortable. Only one size
called “large” was available at the time of ordering.

The charging case is of good quality but slightly fatter than that of Ray Ban
Meta.

Taking photo and video is easy

Please do not read all this as my recommendation to buy the device. Do it at
your own risk. I think you have to join the wait list and wait, you can't buy
it off the shelf anyway.

For context I have reviewed the device from the point of view of usefulness for
a visually impaired person.

Thanks,
