The latest episode, “Lok Adalats – Fast and Affordable Justice,” is now available on YouTube. This episode presents, in simple and accessible language, information about Lok Adalats and their role as an alternative mechanism for amicable settlement of eligible disputes under the Legal Services Authorities Act, 1987. It covers how Lok Adalats can facilitate the speedy and consensual settlement of disputes, without court fees, and how an award based on settlement is final and binding on the parties. The episode also discusses the types of matters that may be taken up before Lok Adalats, including motor accident claims, labour disputes, consumer disputes, utility-related matters and certain disputes involving government authorities, as well as how persons with disabilities can access and benefit from this mechanism.
