What is EOT File?
Embedded Open Type file format was developed by
Microsoft. EOT files are used to embed Open Type font
or True Type fonts to web page. Most commercial fonts
have an end user license agreement (EULA) which
specifies the person who purchased fonts license can
only use those fonts. Normally there are no rights to
distribute freely to others. To over come this
restriction Microsoft developed a mechanism to embed
fonts to web pages which will not violate EULA. The
EOT file format was developed by Microsoft in
cooperation with font creators for just that reason.
