The fee waiver will cover 16 professional courses including medical,
engineering and law. Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhar Reddy made the announcement
here after inaugurating a Special Training Programme (STP) Centre for Muslim
engineering graduates to impart IT skills. He said the Government would
reimburse the entire fee for Muslim students taking up the professional
courses. The facility was being given to encourage more Muslim students to

Scheduled Tribe counterparts. Reeling out figures to buttress his argument that
Congress Government was committed to minority welfare, Reddy said the annual
budget for scholarship for minorities had been increased to Rs 120 crore
compared to a mere Rs 4 crore in 2004 when Telugu Desam Party was in power.
"Every eligible minority student will be given post-matric scholarship," the

state government, Institute for Electronic Governance, Jawahar Knowledge
Centres (JKC), Infosys and Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, is to
enhance the employable skills of Muslim students.
