Basic computer literacy is imperative for success today. It is,
therefore, vital to help children familiarize themselves with the use
of computers from a very young age. We have created the Computer
Science: Information Technology for Classes 1-8 series to fulfil that
very purpose. While the books for classes 3-8 are revised editions of
the earlier series, for classes 1 and 2 the books have been written
afresh.
Our principal aim in creating this series has been to kindle the
interest of primaiy and middle school students in the subject. The
second editions, including the books for classes 1 and 2, are
presented in a larger, more user-friendly format. The books for
classes 3-8 have been thoroughly revised to conform to the latest
developments in the field. Also, the new NCERT guidelines and the
syllabi of all the other boards have been carefully considered while
preparing this revised edition.
Each chapter in a book has plenty of illustrations and text supported
by screenshots. The language used is simple and conversational
avoiding technical jargon to the extent possible.
Computer Science: Information Technology for Class 1 is the first book
in the series. It covers fundamental aspects of computers and their
uses in everyday life. The special features of this edition are given
below:
* Computer Manners presents computer etiquette using cartoon strips
* Tricky Terms at the end of a chapter lists the important terms a
student comes across in the chapter along with their definitions
* Exercises questions learners on all aspects of conceptual theory
covered in a chapter
* In the Lab challenges students to apply the concepts learned to
real-
life situations
* Teacher's Notes suggests creative ways to approach a chapter or
difficult topic
* Picture Dictionary at the end of the book for easy recognition of
the objects learnt
We invite critical feedback on this series, and would be happy to
incorporate constructive suggestions in future editions.
