Hi all, It appears there is a sad situation at Government School for the Blind (both boys and girls) at Hyderabad.
Generally the school re-opens in June and classes will immediately commins. However, this year yet classes are not commenced atleast till my last visit to School for the Blind boys on 21st July, 2008. During April, 08, both these schools were taken over by Disabled Welfare department from Education department that resulted some teachers / students go on strike. It seems so far no steps were taken towards restoration of the situation and I feel students are the ultimate loosers as it is going to be time for quarterly examinations. I don't have any actual facts on the situation but this is what I have seen and heard of. It shall be great, if some organization chip in and look into the situation. Another problem in Andhra Pradesh (not sure for other states) that there is a Government Order that states only 20 markes per subject qualifies a blind student to clear 10th Std examination where as it is 35 marks for others. This can lead to lack of quality in education as the students may ignore to study seriously as they need to score only 20 marks per subject and even teachers may not teach properly. It will also become problem for student in the future in getting employment. -- Ch.
